If you own multiple tablet computing devices, smartphones, or computers, that you want to sync with the same content, then Verizon Backup Assistant Plus is an app made with your preferences in mind.

Customers keep more and more information on their phones from hundreds of contacts to pictures, video and music that they want to access and enjoy every day. Verizon Wireless is rolling out Backup Assistant Plus, a free cloud service that integrates contacts, multimedia. As I have discovered, my excellent and low cost Motorola W755 is no longer able to download a copy of Backup Assistant to allow sync to the Verizon Cloud. I have found that if a W755 already has Backup Assistant on it, it will allow contact backups. The phone I have does not already have it.

Unlike the Apple iCloud, Verizon Backup Assistant Plus is compatible for Windows and PC, but allows users to trade data from iPhones and Android smartphones.

As far as I know, the only way to back up text messages is with a smartphone app. Or possible use BitPim (A third party download from bitpim.org) for basic phones. BA Plus backs up contacts and media (pics, music) but not text messages.

Set Up

1. When you see the Backup Assistant Welcome screen, select Next to begin setting up your account.
   
2. Create a 4- to 8-digit security PIN for your account and select Next.
   
3. As part of your setup, you need to decide if you'd like Backup Assistant to send a PIN to your device if you forget your PIN at a later date. You can uncheck the box to block this feature; however, we recommend keeping it checked. Select Next to confirm your choice.
   
4. Depending on your device, you may be prompted to select a time you want your daily backups to occur, or your device may choose the optimal time for you. Select Next.
   
5. Choose your desired time if prompted, and select Next to continue.
   

You've successfully set up Backup Assistant. Any contacts on your device will be saved to the secure Backup Assistant server, and your address book will now be protected. The app will back up changes to your address book daily. When you switch to a different device, simply activate Backup Assistant on your new device to automatically restore all your contacts.
